Weekly Rides
A weekly email will be sent out regarding the location of bike ride. Weekly Rides are scheduled on the Calendar Tab of the website. For more information click on date and then click on more details. Then click on the attachments file for more information on the bike ride.
Rides are self-paced and if you want exceed the set mileage you may do so. There is no fee for the rides and there is a designated route leader.
RCBR now has six starting points for routes. The six starting points are:
Blue Star Mission Trails Road 471 West of San Antonio, TX
Bullis County Park Garden Ridge, TX
Schertz, TX San Jose Mission, San Antonio, TX
When the Leon Creek Greenway is completed in March 2011, I will add Leon Creek Greenway as the seventh starting point.
On every ride, all types of bikes are welcome.
RCBR has three routes to choose from at each starting point, except Leon Creek Greenway. Leon Creek Greenway will have just one route. Each starting point will have a short, medium, and long route.
Also, if you do not want to ride the full route and just want to ride 5 or 10 miles, for example, please do so. You do not have to finish the route with the group. Please check-in with the group leader when you finish the route.
I would also like to receive feedback on the routes so the routes can be improved. Remember there is no prefect route. The challenge that makes the ride fun is to know the route and follow the same traffic laws as vehicles. Also look out for each other’s safety.
The motto for the River City Bent Riders is NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND.
All routes are open to the public. To view or print routes on Map My Ride go to http://www.mapmyride.com/ click on Routes Tab and click on My Routes. Enter Jorge Tijerina in the Search Box. If you want to print a map you must be at least a bronze member of Map My Ride.
I encourage the RCBR members to keep maps of the routes that have been ridden so the maps can be used for the next ride. These routes have been mapped out by members of RCBR.
I encourage all RCBR members to participate in paid organized rides because they are safe rides and safety is always the number one priority. I would like to receive any emails about your experiences so we can share with other members of the bike club. I would like to publish your experiences in the monthly newsletter. I encourage the RCBR members to make helpful suggestions to the organizers of the biking event.
There is no support and gear service or designated rest stops, so riders should be prepared to be self-sufficient in regard to minor mechanical problems such as flats.
Also, please be aware that the RCBR is a relatively small cycling group. There may be times that you may be the only person showing up for a ride.
Remember to bring plenty of drinking water. Rides that occur in summertime can be extremely hot, even in the morning. Always remember safety comes first.
If you need want more information please email me. If you want to added to River City Bent Riders membership, email Jorge Tijerina at jortijerina@sbcglobal.net .
