If you have back, neck, or Knee problems, recumbent is the way to ride. Instead of perching over and sitting on a
small hard seat, you sit on a large seat with back support, and pedal in comfort.
You also have a better field of vision and now you can just sit back and enjoy the view. At the end of a ride, you may be a bit tired, but your back, neck, and knees will be pain-free.

Recumbents can have either 2 wheels (bicycle) or 3 wheels (tricycles). Two wheel recumbents are common,
and come in two flavors short wheel base
 and
long wheel base bike. Other types of recumbents are back recumbents shown above and the belly or prone recumbents.
The recumbent tricycles or trikes as they are known, come in two designs. The Tadpole (two wheels in the front with one in the back)

And the Delta models
with one wheel in the front and two in the back.

Why the recumbent trike
Pure and simple comfort, the trike type of recumbent offers to the rider a low profile lawn chair type seating. While giving the rider the fun of a go cart.
Additionally the trike recumbent offers stability and balance, in that you have 3 wheels which minimizes the chances of falling.  This type of recumbent is a great choice for those where balance is an issue and exercise is still important to the rider.
